KETO SLOPPY JOES ON TOP OF EASY KETO HAMBURGER BUNS

This recipe for keto sloppy joes reminds me of when I was a kid. It’s an easy keto dinner you can make for your family in under 30 minutes. These low carb sloppy joes are saucy with a mild spice and a slightly sweet tang from the tomato based sloppy joe sauce. Plus you can pour it over some easy keto hamburger buns you can make from scratch!

I designed this easy keto dinner recipe to be something you can make in under 30 minutes. Both the keto sloppy joe mix and the keto hamburger buns can be made together in under 30 minutes!

In this video, I start by making the easy keto hamburger buns. This recipe makes 4 low carb, gluten-free hamburger buns that are topped with sesame seeds. While they are baking in the oven, we move onto making the keto sloppy joe mixture. All of the ingredients for the sloppy joes are tossed into a skillet and simmered for several minutes until the hamburger buns are done.

Slice open a keto bun and pour the low carb sloppy joe mix on top! Dinner is ready!

KETO HAMBURGER BUN RECIPE:

1 cup almond flour
1/2 cup unflavored whey protein powder
2 tablespoons whole psyllium husk flakes
2 tablespoons golden flax seed meal
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons xanthan gum
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons sour cream
sesame seeds (optional)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking tray and set aside.
Whisk or sift together dry ingredients in a medium bowl. Sifting the dry ingredients is preferred to get a finer texture.
Add eggs, melted butter and sour cream to dry ingredients. Mix together until combined.
Wet your hands with some water or oil in order to handle the dough as it is sticky. Divide the dough into four balls and mold each ball into a round disc shape and place on a parchment lined baking tray. Continue with remaining dough. Place each dough ball about 1-2 inches apart.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each bun if you want to make a sesame seed bun.
Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-13 minutes or until slightly hardened on the outside and spongy to the touch. Let cool for 3-5 minutes before slicing.

KETO SLOPPY JOES RECIPE:

2 tablespoons avocado oil
¼ cup finely chopped onion
½ teaspoon salt
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon chili powder
1 pound ground beef
½ teaspoon monk fruit blend sweetener (optional)
½ cup tomato puree
2 tablespoons sugar-free ketchup
½ cup water
½ teaspoon hot sauce

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and salt. Cook until onions have softened (about 5 minutes).
Add ground beef and cook for about 1-2 minutes or until just pink. Stir in garlic, pepper, chili powder, monkfruit, unsweetened ketchup, tomato puree, water and hot sauce.
Simmer for about 8 minutes or until the mixture has slightly thickened. Pour on top of a keto hamburger bun.
