then also YouTube changes their stuff all the time so if you would hit the bell then you'll always be notified of new videos which I post every Tuesday and Thursday okay so without further ado let's get into today's video today we are gonna be doing a food hack and we're gonna be trying to do a low-carb version of southern fried chicken or chicken strips and see if it actually is any good you don't think I can do it what's the matter Colonel Sanders chicken well if you want to see if I can stay tuned and let's do this okay so I found a recipe online for Southern Fried Chicken and I did alter it a little bit I will link that website below so that you can check out their recipe I altered it a little bit as you'll see in this video and I also used boneless skinless chicken breast tenders instead of the full bone-in pieces like you would get at KFC and so they are more like chicken strips kind of like a Raising Cane's chicken strips versus the actual whole bone-in but you could do that and then also if you have tried a airfryer would you leave me a comment below and tell me what you think of it because I did fry these and they're great but baking them does not produce the Chris penis that I like and so then I fry em and then of course you're using oil and all of that which I would love to be able to kind of eliminate that on a low carb diet that really isn't a problem but if you're also trying to do some calorie Control in there frying everything isn't that good for you but it's good I mean it's really good so if you've tried an airfryer leave me a comment below on what you think of it if it's super crispy and worth the investment because I may go out and get one and try out some of these recipes that way you can bake this again but it's not gonna get the crispness that it does from frying now I banked mine for about four minutes on each side I turned it halfway through just to get that coating to adhere to the chicken a little bit and then less of it comes off in the fryer and then I just deep fry it for a few minutes to crisp it up and get it nice and golden brown so if you're interested in finding out how I did this stay tuned and keep watching here you guys are in my kitchen and we are gonna try this fried chicken recipe supposedly it tastes just like the real thing but is virtually carb free I think with the ingredients that we're using so I'm just gonna go over the ingredients really quickly I'll put in the description below how much of each of the things that I use but for time purposes we're gonna go through this quickly so you are going to need boneless skinless chicken breast tenders and a pan as well as some parchment paper then you're going to need some plain whey protein I just bought this off of Amazon you can use your favorite whatever works just the plain kind you're gonna need some heavy whipping cream some Parmesan cheese onion powder salt oh fiber I use trim healthy mama oat fiber but you can also find whatever your favorite is I'm sure off of Amazon and I'm also using a couple of eggs we're gonna dip the chicken into the eggs before we put it in our coating and we are using pork rinds now normally I would use the hot and spicy ones but all I have is the plain once today so I'm going to be adding hot blends black and red pepper to give it a little bit of a kick so that's your ingredients and let's get started so the first thing that I'm gonna do is I'm gonna crush up these pork rinds into kind of a breadcrumb texture I am just using my magic bullet I will put it into here and blend it all up you can use a food processor however it gets down to fine browns okay so this is what it looks like this is the coding looks pretty good to me actually it looks like normal coding so now we're gonna do the wet ingredients I'm gonna put that into here all right so now we've got the chicken and we've got the heavy cream egg mixture with water and we have the coding so I've just got these little chicken tenders right here I feel like they are the best for this they get a good amount of coating they fry up really well they're not huge now the recipe that I found online and I will link to that I've altered it just a little bit the seasoning that they put on there I don't have so I kind of did my own seasoning and then they are frying it in a skillet probably a cast-iron skillet or a frying pan on the stove and doing that the whole time but what I have found with these types of recipes is when you put it in the fryer a lot of the coating comes off especially because it's usually not really flour based this might work a little bit better but the way that I like to do this is I like to bake it in the oven for about seven minutes and that kind of helps for one it cooks the chicken and two it helps that cheese to kind of melt a little bit which makes it stick to the chicken better and then when you put it in the fryer two things happen one you don't have to fry it for as long so it's not soaking up quite as much oil because it's not being in the fryer you don't have to cook the chicken in the fryer you're just doing it to crisp it up so it's in there less time and then also more of the batter sticks to the chicken so I'm gonna Bank mine for seven minutes at 375 I'll have my oven going and then I'll put it in the fryer for just a few minutes maybe three minutes or so just to get it nice and golden brown and crispy so we're gonna try that and see how that works you can see how these are looking they look pretty good to me I have never eaten whey protein before or cooked with it so I really don't know it's it's unflavored but I really don't know what this is gonna do to it my normal chicken fingers that I do I use 1/3 regular pork rinds 1/3 hot and spicy pork rinds and one-third Parmesan cheese and I mix that all together depending on how much chicken I'm cooking and then I dip it in egg dip it in that bake it and fry it and it's great and don't be afraid of the pork rinds you don't taste the pork rind flavor especially when could my kitchen be louder the fridge is going off but especially when you mix it with Parmesan cheese and you use the hot and spicy ones hot spicy pork rinds you can't tell that it's pork rinds no one would ever know that it's pork rinds unless you told that my entire family loves it everybody eats it I've served it for guests before who are not on a little carb diet so it's definitely it's definitely worth checking out for a coating for chicken okay this is what it looks like it's kind of half done so now we're going to put them in the fryer we're going to try this all right here is the final product and I've got a little bit of low-carb ketchup here and some blue cheese I didn't have any ranch we're gonna just try this out here and see big ketchup it's really good this is not like southern fried chicken like that you would find that okay I've seen um that's super good doesn't taste weird at all just tastes like crunchy chicken fingers it's really crunchy on the outside you hear that but good flavor on its own nice spice to it I still think I'll use my spicy pork rinds next time because I really like it with the kick this is good um – thumbs up for this I'll put the recipe in the description box and give it a try and tell me what you think good okay that is it for today's video I hope you enjoyed this I hope it inspires you to try out a new recipe also leave me a comment below if you have a low-carb recipe that you would like me to try I will certainly try that out in a future video and until next time stay inspired and I'll see you in the next video see you ladies
